Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)This large leaf succulent grows up to 86 feet (26.2 meters) tall. The asymmetrical stem is emerald, and is covered in lots of rigid cyan spines. The stocky leaves are solid purple with vibrant red lines. Sparse amounts of them grow on stocky, crimson and beige branches that are very short and thin. The leaves are flimsy, but take little effort to detach.
It is steady-growing, taking 3 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with petals that are generally violet; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of 51 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight dish. It has an overpowering scent that smells like chocolate.
The leaf succulent's skin is very thick, the brown flesh is rough, and the slate sap is thin and causes diarrhea if consumed.
It makes excellent hedges.
