Red Leaf Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This short fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 22 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, slanted trunk covered in thin, waxy, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is black with white speckles.

The numerous branches are very long and thick and are covered with handfuls of small, very thick leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are white on the edges and red at the center.

In early spring, it produces dozens of tiny, green blossoms with cylindrical shaped petals. They are hardy and have an overpowering scent that smells like garlic.

In early autumn it produces , long, curved fruit. The soft orange skin is stretchy and inedible, and the very soft copper flesh is salty and sour and sticky. The olive seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.
