Violet Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its leaves)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 18 feet (5.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 55 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, slanted trunk covered in silky, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the very dense wood is pale brown.

The small handful of branches are very long and thick and are covered with sparse amounts of miniature, circular leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are found in lime and violet varieties.

In early spring, it produces many balls of medium-sized, green blossoms with asymmetrical petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have a powerful scent that smells like warm milk.

In early autumn it produces , broad, flat fruit. The fuzzy green skin is peel-able and inedible, and the slightly crunchy copper flesh is sweet and dry. The blood red seeds are large and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
