Copperleaf
Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)This small tree grows up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 71 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a thick, angular trunk covered in waxy, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the very hard wood is gray.
The branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with large amounts of clammy, small, asymmetrical leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either aquamarine, or copper with lilac patches.
In late summer it forms giant, lime, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.
The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
It is very rare outside of a particular area.
