Copperwood

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This average-sized tree grows up to 36 meters (118.1 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 65 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a long and flexible, wavy trunk covered in paper-thin, rough, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is copper-coloured.

The branches are short stubs and are covered with copious amounts of leathery, tiny, thick leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are gentle green with pink tips.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, beige, winged seeds that float and land far away.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
