Bloodfern

This average-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 182 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several branched, curved stems covered in silky, light brown bark, and the wood inside is silver.

The branches are very long, thin and wispy that and are covered with handfuls of huge, asymmetrical, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are amber on the edges and blood red at the center, light and smooth.

In mid-spring it produces thick bunches of tiny, amber flowers with shield-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have a weak scent that smells like varnish.
