Silverfruit Tree

This enormous fruit tree grows up to 75 feet (22.9 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 70 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, twisting trunk covered in very thick, waxy, light gray bark, and inside, the soft wood is pale brown.

The abundance of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with thick bunches of tiny, slender, pointed leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are either violet or light grey, with blood red patches.

In early spring, it produces lots of medium-sized, silver blossoms with 6 kidney-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have the faintest scent that smells like apple.

In early autumn it produces , long, straight fruit. The hairy blue skin is tough and edible when cooked; it is sour and savoury, and the slightly crunchy azure flesh is sour and savoury and powdery. The red seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.
