Bluefruit Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 25 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a wide, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, silky, light brown bark, and inside, the flexible wood is white.

The branches are short stubs and are covered with large amounts of small, spear shaped leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are either intense red, or blue with gold lines.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of giant, dull green blossoms with oval-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like ashes.

In mid-autumn it produces small, perforated fruit. The crispy caramel skin is thin and edible when boiled; it is sweet and salty, and the slightly crunchy blue flesh is sweet and bitter and oily. The light grey seed is tiny and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.
