Copperwood

This short tree grows up to 6 meters (19.7 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 613 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, straight trunk covered in very thick, rough, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the flexible wood is dark brown.

The sparse amount of branches are short and thick and are covered with handfuls of sticky, large, finger-like leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are either intense red, or blue with gold lines.

In late summer it forms giant, blood red, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
