Crimsonvine

This massive shrub grows up to 14 feet (4.3 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 165 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous flexible, straight stems covered in thin, rough, dark brown bark, and the wood inside is burgundy.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright with thousands of twigs that and are covered with small amounts of miniature, perforated, leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of brown that gradient shifts to dark grey at the top, strong and crispy.

It produces several large, washed-out orange flowers with 9 heart-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a strong scent that smells like ashes. In early autumn it forms smallbronze, spiky-shelled seeds.
