Bloodfruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This big fruit tree grows up to 22 feet (6.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 27 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.
It has a branched, straight trunk covered in fine, ridged, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the dense wood is burgundy.
The small bunches of branches are short stubs and are covered with thick bunches of small, spear shaped leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are generally lilac.
In early spring, it produces large amounts of medium-sized, dark brown blossoms with V-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have an overpowering scent that smells like wet dog.
In early winter it produces small, slender, 6 pointed fruit. The fuzzy blood red skin is peel-able and extremely sour, and the crunchy vibrant orange flesh is bitter and powdery. The gold seed is very large and is in the centre of the fruit.
The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
