Elderwood

This massive tree grows up to 120 meters (393.7 feet) tall and lives for over 3,000 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 3165 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a slender, curved trunk covered in fine, wrinkled, light gray bark, and inside, the hard wood is pale brown-grey.

The branches trail down across the ground, with dozens of twigs covered with thick bunches of giant, gray needles. The needles themselves are tough.

In late summer it produces giant, brown, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.
