Amberfruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This small fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 80 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a wide, wonky trunk covered in hard, smooth, brown-green bark, and inside, the very hard wood is gray.
The tangled mess of branches are long, thin and wispy and are covered with small amounts of small, very thin leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are slate on the edges and amber at the center.
In early spring, it produces many giant, gold blossoms with broad, flat petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a weak scent that smells like something putrid.
In late autumn it produces small, long, tapering fruit. The sticky light brown skin is tough and savoury, and the soft silver flesh is bitter and dry. The brilliant red seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.
The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
