Bloodfruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its leaves)

This big fruit tree grows up to 42 feet (12.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 31 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, angular trunk covered in cracked, black bark, and inside, the soft wood is pale yellow.

The small handful of branches are short and thick and are covered with copious amounts of giant, finger-like leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are green at the bottom and red with blood red dots at the top.

In early spring, it produces several tiny, peach blossoms with 6 heart-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like fish.

In mid-summer it produces , perforated fruit. The fuzzy caramel skin is tough and sweet, and the very soft magenta flesh is very salty and sticky. The grey seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
