Bluefruit Tree

This giant fruit tree grows up to 64 feet (19.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 29 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, twisting trunk covered in hard, smooth, gray bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is yellow.

The sparse amount of branches are long and thin and are covered with thick bunches of giant, very narrow and elongated leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are brown on the sides and sky blue at the center.

In early spring, it produces clusters of large, lime blossoms with 6 pointed petals. They are sturdy and have an intensely strong scent that smells like something putrid.

In early autumn it produces , wide fruit. The smooth azure skin is tough and sweet and sour, and the crunchy brown flesh is sweet and spicy and syrupy. The grey seed is small and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
