Twining Bloodfruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This small fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 20 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, slanted trunk covered in very thick, smooth, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the very light wood is white.

The sparse amount of branches are very short and thick and are covered with small bunches of large, 4 pointed leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are brown and brilliant purple.

In early spring, it produces many small, silver blossoms with circular petals. They are hardy and have an overpowering scent that smells like misty mornings.

In late autumn it produces , spherical fruit. The rough blood red skin is thin and edible when boiled; it is salty, and the very soft azure flesh is savoury and sticky. The bronze seed is tiny and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
