Bloodfire
Flower type: Biennial (Stores water in its leaves)This average-sized flower grows up to 2.0 feet (61 cm) tall. Its brown stem is very thick and straight with a curved tip, and the tiny, gray-green leaves are wispy with rounded edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.
Two large flowers sit at the end of the stem. The flowers are 25 cm (9.8 inches) wide, with alternating petals of blood red and black, with an amber central disk. The flower head is made up of 6 petals in raised layers. They are sturdy.
It has an intense scent that smells like bleach, and it has very little pollen, but can cause allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
