Copperleaf

This modest-sized leaf succulent grows up to 57 feet (17.4 meters) tall. The spear shaped stem is pink-red, and is covered in large amounts of rigid light brown spines. The slender leaves are copper and caramel. Small bunches of them grow on flat, lime or green branches that are short, rigid and upright. The leaves are flimsy, and are very difficult to pull away.

It is very slow growing, taking 16 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with solid silver petals decorated with crimson dots and a cyan central disk grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is largely flat with 40 widely spaced round-tipped petals. It has a strong scent that smells like a woman.

The leaf succulent's skin is thin, the caramel flesh is sticky, and the grey sap is thin.
