Crimsonvine

Climbing plant type: Bine (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This small bine is a quick growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 9 feet (2.7 meters) and growing as high as 83 feet (25.3 meters). It prefers to grow on man-made objects.

It takes 3 months for the gray stems to mature, by which point they have tangled themselves into thick mats with a diameter of 1 cm (0.4 inches) and are hard and brittle.

The flame-shaped, clammy leaves reach up to 4 inches (10 cm) in length. They are crimson on the sides and violet at the center, and have smooth edges.

During late spring, the bine produces lots of large light grey flowers, and during the early autumn, after flowering, it produces a few small berries.

Both the grass and the grains are spicy and slightly toxic.

It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
