This large creeper is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 370 feet (112.8 meters) and growing as high as 66 feet (20.1 meters). It prefers to grow on trees.

It takes 2 years for the moss green stems to mature, by which point they often have a diameter of 1.1 feet (33 cm) and are smooth and fuzzy.

The needle-like, leathery leaves reach up to 2.0 feet (61 cm) in length. They are generally blood red, and have serrated edges.
