Goldenberry

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 45 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, slanted trunk covered in fine, wrinkled, brown and grey bark, and inside, the very light wood is yellow-brown.

The sparse amount of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with small amounts of large, sickle shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are lilac and gold.

In early spring, it produces dozens of giant, cream blossoms with 8 V-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like mint.

In early autumn it produces , long, straight fruit. The clammy black skin is stretchy and slightly savoury, and the soft lime flesh is spicy and syrupy. The slate seed is tiny and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
It is slightly resistant to fire damage.
