Golden Lime Tree
Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This enormous fruit tree grows up to 49 feet (14.9 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 37 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a branched, twisting trunk covered in thick, silky, yellow bark, and inside, the very light wood is burgundy.
The small handful of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with small bunches of large, circular leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are lilac and gold.
In early spring, it produces lots of large, magenta blossoms with pleated petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have a mildly strong scent that smells like cotton.
In late summer it produces , finger-like fruit. The rubbery caramel skin is tough and inedible, and the very soft lime flesh is bitter and very dry. The lime seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.
The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.
