Indigo

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This big fruit tree grows up to 25 feet (7.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 51 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, crooked trunk covered in fine, rough, burgundy bark, and inside, the very hard wood is pale brown.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with handfuls of tiny, very thin leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are vibrant orange at the bottom and aquamarine with purple patches at the top.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of medium-sized, peach blossoms with asymmetrical petals. They are hardy and have a soft scent that smells like pepper.

In early winter it produces , long, tapering fruit. The smooth indigo skin is stretchy and inedible, and the crunchy green flesh is savoury and dry. The silver seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
