Burgundy Spike Cactus

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This big cactus grows up to 89 feet (27.1 meters) tall. The asymmetrical stem is red, and is covered in hundreds of flexible dark brown spines. The wedge-shaped body is burgundy, and is covered in sharp spines.

It is very slow growing, taking 46 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with grey petals and a yellow center grows at the top, reappearing once every 6 years. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 20 curved petals. It has an overpowering scent that smells like mango.

The cactus's skin is tough, the blue flesh is rough, and the red sap is thin.

Ivy often grows along the trunk.
It comes in 7 varieties, each with a different leaf colour.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
