Pineberry
Shrub type: Coniferous (Stores water in its leaves)This colossal shrub grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall and lives for around 30 years. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has dozens of long and flexible, wonky stems covered in hard, smooth, pine-coloured bark, and the wood inside is burgundy.
The branches are short stubs with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with very large amounts of small, wide, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either vivid blue or white, with intense green streaks, delicate and leathery.
It produces a thick sheet of tiny, purple flowers with 5 shield-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have a weak scent that smells like mint. In mid-autumn it forms tinywashed-out red, spiky-shelled seeds.
