Amberbell

This average-sized caudiciform grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall. The stiff, pointed stem is emerald, and is covered in lots of flexible amber spines. The angular, red trunk can grow to as much as 3 feet (91.4 cm) in diameter at the bottom. Its cream and gray branches are long, thin and wispy and start growing at the top the stem.

The small amounts of toothed-edged, heart-shaped leaves are turquoise at the bottom and amber with lilac patches at the top. They are strong, but detach easily.

It is steady-growing, taking 4 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with alternating petals of faded green and cream, with an amber central disk grow at the top, reappearing after 5 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a star made up of dozens of tightly layered, round-tipped petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like pineapple.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the gold flesh is smooth, and the slate sap is thin and causes diarrhea if consumed.
