Golden Starvine

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This small leaf succulent grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall. The fan-like stem is emerald, and is covered in sharp spines. The irregular-edged, wide leaves are gold and orange. Large amounts of them grow from the base in tight-packed layers. The leaves are resilient, and are very difficult to pull away.

It is slow growing, taking 10 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with alternating petals of faded green and cream, with an amber central disk grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a star made up of dozens of tightly layered, round-tipped petals. It has a mildly strong scent that smells like faeces.

The leaf succulent's skin is extremely thick, the olive flesh is slimy, and the cream sap is thin.
