Sapphire Spine Cactus
Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)This modest-sized cactus grows up to 67 feet (20.4 meters) tall. It splits at the base to form 3 tapering stems. Each stem is blue, and is covered in thick sheets of flexible lime spines.
It is slow growing, taking 37 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are generally blood red; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 46 petals. It has a soft scent that smells like new carpet.
The cactus's skin is rock-hard, the ashy orange flesh is soft, and the deep red sap is thin.
It is frequently struck by lightning.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
The sap is edible and slightly sour.
