Zigzag Vine

This modest-sized vine is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 49 feet (14.9 meters) and growing as high as 733 feet (223.4 meters). It prefers to grow on man-made objects.

It takes 7 months for the lime green stems to mature, by which point they sometimes have a diameter of 2 inches (5 cm) and are rough and prickly.

The spear shaped, leathery leaves reach up to 1.1 feet (33 cm) in length. They are solid red or turquoise, with florescent purple zig-zags, and have jagged edges.

During late spring, the vine produces hundreds of large violet flowers, and during the early summer, after flowering, it produces plenty of tiny seed pods.
