Bronzebell

Flower type: Annual (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This modest-sized flower grows up to 9 inches (23 cm) tall. Its lime stem is thin, and the miniature, green leaves are finger-like with smooth edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and a pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

6 to 10 small flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 5 cm (2.0 inches) wide, with petals that are bronze on the edges and black at the center. The flower head is largely flat with 7 raised round-tipped petals. They are very delicate.

It has a strong scent that smells like cinnamon, and it has a fair amount of pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also particularly attractive to insects.

It is said to be able to live for hundreds of years.
