Copper Glow

Flower type: Annual (Stores water in its leaves)

This short flower grows up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. Its moss green stem is very thick and splits into 8 branching stems three quarters of the way up, and the giant, gray-green leaves are sickle shaped with jagged edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from the base up to about halfway.

Each stem splits 5 to 11 times; a single large flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 5 cm (2.0 inches) wide, with brown petals on the lower layer and copper petals decorated with green dots on the inner layer. The central disk is amber. The flower head is made up of 12 petals in raised layers. They detach easily.

It has the faintest scent that smells like chocolate, and it has excessive amounts of pollen. It is a self-pollinator.
