Redwood

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This short tree grows up to 5 meters (16.4 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 73 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, wavy trunk covered in thick, cracked, brown-green bark, and inside, the very light wood is dark brown.

The small clumps of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with sparse amounts of leathery, giant, long, tapering leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are either red, or cream with florescent purple splotches.

In late summer it forms giant, black, shelled seeds.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
Their seeds have hallucinogenic properties.
