Indigo Lavender

Flower type: Biennial (Stores water in its stem)

This short flower grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. Its indigo stem is very thin and splits into 8 branching stems at the top, and the small, yellow-green leaves are white on the underside and are spear shaped with rounded edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

Dozens of medium-sized flowers grow in a bunch at the end of the stem. The flowers are 2 cm (0.8 inches) wide, with petals that are slate in the center, lime in the middle and indigo at the edges. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 29 petals. They are hardy.

It has a fairly strong scent that smells like lavender, and it has very little pollen. It is pollinated by insects and is particularly attractive to bees.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
It blooms only at night.
