Waterleaf

Flower type: Biennial (Stores water in its leaves)

This short flower grows up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall. Its burgundy stem is thin and straight with a curved tip, and the giant, yellow-green leaves are white on the underside and are oval-shaped with smooth edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

Dozens of small flowers grow along the length of the stem. The flowers are 4 cm (1.6 inches) wide, with dull red petals and a magenta central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 40 petals. They are hardy.

It has a faint scent that smells like honeysuckle, and it has a modest amount of pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also visited by a variety of insects.
