Succulent Grapeflower

Flower type: Biennial (Stores water in its leaves)

This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.8 feet (53 cm) tall. Its moss green stem is wispy, and the huge, green leaves are asymmetrical with irregular edges. The leaves alternate on the stem.

Dozens of small flowers grow in drooping bunches like grapes. The flowers are 18 cm (7.1 inches) wide, with petals that are generally yellow; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour. The flower head is largely flat with 28 raised round-tipped petals. They are hardy.

It has a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like new carpet, and it has very little pollen. It is pollinated by insects and is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.
