Burgundywood

This large tree grows up to 83 meters (272.3 feet) tall and lives "forever", with many known specimens being tens of thousands of years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in delicate, knobbly, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the very light wood is black.

The branches trail down towards the ground, with dozens of twigs covered with large amounts of small, burgundy needles. The needles themselves are sturdy.

In late summer it produces large, blood red, winged seeds that float and land far away.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
