Aquamarine Spikevine

This modest-sized caudiciform grows up to 25 feet (7.6 meters) tall. The spear shaped stem is aquamarine, and is covered in dozens of flexible grey spines. The very thick, slate trunk can grow to as much as 25 feet (7.6 meters) in diameter. Its brown branches are short, rigid and upright.

The irregular-edged, wide leaves are solid brown or washed-out orange, with gold streaks. They are delicate, and easily come away when pulled.

It is steady-growing, taking 2 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with petals that are grey on the underside and hazel on the top, grow at the top, reappearing after 2 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a cup with 42 widely spaced, narrow petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like vomit.

The caudiciform's skin is rock-hard, the black flesh is soft, and the brown sap is thin and causes vomiting if consumed.
