Burgundy Bellflower

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 14 years. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has dozens of thick, straight stems covered in thin, silky, burgundy bark, and the wood inside is brown.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright with thousands of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of tiny, very thick, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are either caramel, or pale orange with bronze zig-zags, frail and fuzzy.

In late spring it produces hundreds of large, violet flowers with asymmetrical petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a strong scent that smells like cheese.
