Cyanleaf

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 26 years. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of long and flexible, slanted stems covered in hard, waxy, black bark, and the wood inside is black.

The branches trail down towards the ground with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of small, stiff, pointed, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are cyan at the bottom and gold with dark grey streaks at the top, sturdy and smooth.

In mid-spring it produces lots of medium-sized, pink blossoms with circular shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a strong scent that smells like rotting meat.

In early winter small stiff, pointed fruits ripen. The waxy hazel skin is peel-able and very sour, and the soft grey flesh is bitter and savoury and very dry. The crimson seed is small and is in the centre of the fruit.

It coexists peacefully with other plants.
It is excellent at collecting and storing carbon dioxide
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
