Indigo

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This short cactus grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall. It splits partway up the body to form 6 very thin stems. Each stem is brown, and is covered in copious amounts of rigid grey spines.

It is very slow growing, taking 38 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with indigo petals that gradient shift to cream on the outer edge. The central disk is bronze grow at the top, reappearing after 4 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of 28 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight dish. It has a faint scent that smells like meat.

The cactus's skin is very thick, the green flesh is waxy, and the cream sap is thin.


It is suitable for use as a construction material
