Black Olive

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This modest-sized tree grows up to 23 meters (75.5 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 132 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, straight trunk covered in smooth, light gray bark, and inside, the very dense wood is black.

The numerous branches are very long, thin and wispy and are covered with thick bunches of waxy, miniature, spear shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are olive and blue.

In late summer it forms tiny, brilliant red, shelled seeds.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
