Silverbark Fruit Tree

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 14 feet (4.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 50 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, slanted trunk covered in thin, waxy, silver and white bark, and inside, the very dense wood is silver.

The excessive amount of branches are very short and thin and are covered with large amounts of large, very thick leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid pink with yellow dots.

In early spring, it produces dozens of giant, sky blue blossoms with 6 flame-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a powerful scent that smells like rotten eggs.

In early autumn it produces large, triangular fruit. The sticky faded blue skin is thick and bitter and sour, and the crunchy copper flesh is salty and sour and syrupy. The muted green seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
