Twisted Lilac Oak

This small tree grows up to 5 meters (16.4 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 87 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a long and flexible, twisting trunk covered in thin, wrinkled, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the flexible wood is copper-coloured.

The tangled mess of branches are very long and slender and are covered with large amounts of sticky, large, fan-like leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are found in lilac, silver and purple varieties.

In late summer it forms small, dark grey aril (seeds with fleshy covers).

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
