Coppervine

Flower type: Perennial (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This large flower grows up to 5.8 feet (1.8 meters) tall. Its copper stem is thin, and the miniature, green leaves are needle-like with serrated edges. The leaves alternate on the stem.

Two large flowers sit at the end of each stem. The flowers are 9 cm (3.5 inches) wide, with petals that are turquoise on the underside and faded red on the top. The flower head is shaped like a cube made up of 10 raised, narrow petals. They detach easily.

It has a faint scent that smells like onion, and it has a modest amount of pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also particularly attractive to bees.

It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
