Ivyfruit Tree

This huge fruit tree grows up to 75 feet (22.9 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 42 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in hard, wrinkled, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is pine-coloured.

The branches trail down across the ground and are covered with small bunches of giant, slender, pointed leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are emerald with dark grey tips.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of giant, blue blossoms with sickle shaped petals. They fall easily and have a powerful scent that smells like freshly baked bread.

In early summer it produces , needle-like fruit. The sticky orange skin is thick and inedible, and the slightly crunchy sky blue flesh is bitter and powdery. The green seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.
