Twilight Vine
Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 117 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.
It has several long and flexible, wavy stems covered in cracked, silver and white bark, and the wood inside is mahogany-coloured.
The branches are tall, rigid and upright with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with thick bunches of huge, perforated, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are amber and orange, tough and sticky.
In early summer it produces hundreds of small, drab yellow blossoms with long, tapering petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a strong scent that smells like ashes.
In midwinter small perforated fruits ripen. The fuzzy lime skin is stretchy and edible when roasted; it is sweet and salty, and the soft blue flesh is bland and very juicy. The orange seeds are large and are bunched at the top of the fruit.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It is bio-luminescent.
