Goldenleaf Succulent
Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)This short leaf succulent grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall. The sickle shaped stem is silver, and is covered in brittle beige spines. The jagged-edged, spear shaped leaves are generally gold. Copious amounts of them grow from the base like rose petals. The leaves are delicate, and are very difficult to pull away.
It is slow growing, taking 28 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with each petal a slightly different shade of hazel, grow at the top, reappearing after 4 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a trumpet made up of several tightly layered, round-tipped petals. It has a weak scent that smells like an ocean breeze.
The leaf succulent's skin is nearly impenetrable, the yellow flesh is sticky, and the brilliant purple sap is thin and has hallucinogenic properties.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
