Burgundy Moss

This burgundy moss is commonly found growing in tiny clumps In marshes.
It is short, growing up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. It forms in thick clumps and can spread and grow quickly, and is extremely frail.
When mature, emerald heart-shaped capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late autumn to release dozens of spores; it does not cause any allergic reactions.
