Copperleaf

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This large leaf succulent grows up to 75 feet (22.9 meters) tall. The tapering stem is copper, and is covered in brittle blood red spines. The smooth-edged, perforated leaves are brown and hazel. Large amounts of them grow from the base in a spiral pattern. The leaves are frail, but take little effort to detach.

It is steady-growing, taking 3 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with pink petals on the lower layer and yellow petals decorated with violet dots on the inner layer. The central disk is sky blue, grow at the top, reappearing after 2 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of several petals in raised layers. It has a delicate scent that smells like rotten egg.

The leaf succulent's skin is very thick, the dull yellow flesh is waxy, and the olive sap is thin and causes severe cramps if consumed.


It is suitable for making strong rope
A particular bird species likes to nest in it.
