Amber

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This large fruit tree grows up to 26 feet (7.9 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 41 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, angular trunk covered in thin, ridged, brown-green bark, and inside, the very light wood is yellow-brown.

The small handful of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with copious amounts of miniature, flame-shaped leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are solid amber or peach, with lilac edges.

In early spring, it produces a handful of giant, cyan blossoms with wide petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a weak scent that smells like onion.

In late summer it produces very large, heart-shaped fruit. The waxy amber skin is stretchy and inedible, and the very soft violet flesh is savoury and syrupy. The crimson seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.

It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
